Workplace Violence

So today we had our semi-annual security training at the bank I work for. It was pretty funny. I know that banks are a pretty dangerous to be working at, especially with our current economic situaion but the videos we are forced to watch are ridiculous. You know the ones, where the robber busts in, guns blazing, ready to take down the closest teller after they get what they want. So ridiculous. I'm not saying this doesn't happen but really, no matter how much training I take part in I will never, ever be prepared for someone to rob me. My branch has been robbed (luckily I was not working that day) and one of my fellow employees sister was robbed at a completely different bank. People are crazy and desperate but the videos do not help! I'm sure you could You Tube one but just think the cheesiest actors and the cheesiest music and there you go. You got the makings of a great bank robbery video!

Cue the adorable smile

Kids are a funny thing. One minute they are little demons and you have to shave their heads to make sure they don't have any crazy birth marks (you know because your kid was born with a mohawk so you couldn't check at the hospital) and the next minute they have a halo around their head with a cherub-like smile on their face asking for more milk. This has been the number one issue I have been dealing with since our little man has been old enough to cause some ruckus. He will throw a fit in the middle of Dillons and then when we get to the car grab my head and give me a big kissaroo on the lips.

And lately he has had shifty-eyes whenever something happens and he doesn't like it he will look at you all sideways and you kinda get freaked out. I know he is just being a little boy but come on. Give me a break people! I watched an episode of Criminal Minds and it had a kid on there that turned out to be a sociopath. Hope my little angel doesn't turn out that way! I'm just kidding about me actually thinking that will happen but you know what I'm saying. Kids are funny and how they behave is even funnier because one minute they are fine and the next they are not.

My real idea for this blog came because yesteray little man went with my mom to Botanica and she said he was really well behaved and then last night he was a little terror. I was happy that he behaved in public for my mom but it kills me because when we see people they talk about what an angel he is and can't believe that he could do any wrong. I guess that is the image that you want people to have of your kids. Better than them thinking your kid is a terror. So yeah, even though I am complaining about my sometimes misbehaving boy I am glad that he is mine and wouldn't trade him for the world!

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood

The last three days have been in the 80s. In April. That is fan-freaking-tastic. Even though our winter was not terrible I am desperately enjoying the weather. I spent about an hour and a half outside with little man on Wednesday and then I grilled dinner. It was delicious. Thanks for asking. Steak, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Anyways...today I think I am going to pick up the monster and we'll play either at a local park or even in the backyard because he seems to enjoy his golf clubs and all of his ball that he can kick, throw, hit. And I am super stoked because I was informed (after a slight interrogation) when my parents would be opening their pool. I was told probably the first weekend in May. Which is next weekend. So, if everything stays right in the weather world I should be swimming in about 2 weeks (give or take a few days).

Another thing that I realized as I was driving home with the windows wide open. I am a much better car singer when it's nice and warm and the windows are open. Or maybe the music was so loud because of the 50 MPH wind that I thought I sounded like Carrie Underwood. Who knows. I'm going with I'm a better singer! Even though I have to work tomorrow all day the rest of my weekend will be amazing and I hope all of yours are as well!

Small Victories

So we have made another milestone in little man's 2 years on planet Earth (happy Earth Day everyone!!!). Anyways...little man has off and on liked baths. He has always had a small bathtub that he gets his baths in and I finally decided that he is to big for it and needs to start taking baths in the big bathtub. Don't judge me and my 2 year old taking baths in a baby bathtub! :) It saves water and is so much easier! So I scrubbed it down really good on Monday and we took the plunge, so to speak, this morning. He. Hated. It. He stood the entire time clutching my arm and cried. I felt horrible but he needed a bath and that was that.

So today was like 80 degrees (heaven, seriously) and we played a good hour and a half outside so of course the heathen needed another bath tonight. I figured I have always heard baths are calming and help kids sleep better at night anyways so I ran the bath. He got in and loved it. He did not want to get out. So a small victory was won where the baby bathtub is now hidden under his unused crib (another victory that will be won tonight...I am listening to him cry it out as I type.). I am so excited and at the same time a little sad. My little man is turning into a big man and it makes me sad. And yearn for another baby at the same time, but seriously...if my brother is having a destination wedding in Aruba next year (keep your fingers crossed that this actually happens!!!) then no baby for me and bikini body here I come!
Ok so this post rambled (A LOT) but seriously...my little boy is growing up and it is crazy how much a little person can change your life so drastically! I never in a million years would have imagined that I would be so excited over baths in the big bathtub but folks it is happening! Oh yeah, and the picture is from the zoo on Monday. It was beautiful and my monkey was having a great time!

What a weekend

This weekend was spent in a whirlwind. We left for Kansas City Saturday about noon but had to stop and get some windshield wipers because it was supposed to rain. Surprisingly the ones we were getting were on clearance. That was pretty amazing! But anyways...the good thing was it did not rain the entire time we were gone. That was amazing! We made it to KC and went to Legends, the outdoor mall. The monkey was in awe of the fountains and his new favorite phrase is "the coin in the water" because we let him throw a penny in the fountain. Maybe he was the one that caused the good luck no rain! Then we moseyed on over to my aunt and uncles for the partay. It turned out really well and we had good food and good conversation. We did decide to stay in a hotel though because my child is a punk in the fact that he will not sleep by himself or go to sleep by himself especially in an unfamiliar place. So we got a $50 hotel room that was surprisingly nice and had a free continental breakfast the next morning. We got up and around and was home by noon so I could make it to my bowl for kids sake. I bowled for about 2 hours and then came home and took a brief nap. I swear the weekends go by so fast. One minute it is 3 and the next it is 9.

That about sums up my weekend. My brosef came over for a little bit to drop off a really cute outfit for the monkey and we discussed some of his upcoming wedding plans. Nothing to exciting but I am excited for them! And today I am off so I will be cleaning the bathroom...yay! And then picking up the monkey from school and taking him to the zoo. So I am off to start my adventure and then back to the grind tomorrow for work. Oh joy! Hopefully everyone else's weekend went by slowly and you got to enjoy the weather!

Throw me a frickin Bone

So I know I have blogged about Bones the TV show before but I'm doing it again. I was thrilled today when I got home from work and checked my DVR and lo and behold there were 2 new episodes this week. So awesome! And then I checked to see next week's schedule and there is another new episode on Monday! Totally stoked that I get 3 new episodes in less than a week. I'm not sure if they are just trying to wrap up the season but Kendra likey!

Also, I have a three day weekend this weekend because of when I am needed to work next week so the famdamily and I are making a jog up to Kansas City for my uncles 40th birthday party. That is as long as my boys don't get sick. Little man has been grabbing at his ears and covering them up lately. It concerns me a little but not enough to take him to the dr.! And if we do make it up to KC I hope it is fun. Not one single other person from our family (that I know of other than my cousin who is bringing her college friends with her) are going to the party. So it will be a bunch of people that we don't know. And like I have said on here before, I just love situations like that. (The above sentence is covered in sarcasm...) So wish me luck this weekend that everything goes smashingly. I hope everyone else's weekend turns out just as they want them to!

Spin Cycle: Celebs, they're just like us

Ok, so most of you probably saw my post last week about changes and it was due to the Spin Cycle. This came from Jen at http://www.spriteskeeper.com/my_weblog/2009/04/celebrity-cycle-spinning-up-the-celebs.html. She is the mastermind behind giving me something to write about once a week! This week is celebritites and anyone who actually knows me I LOVE celebrities.

The thing I don't like about celebrities is when they talk about failed romances and marriages and how they are just like us. Like Nick and Jessica. Oh my goodness. If they couldn't make it can Leo and I? I mean honestly people. We have camera crews in our house 24/7 so it would only be truthful to say they are just like us. Ok, maybe the camera crews I have are our big picture windows and while Leo and I are very similar to Nick and Jessica (in the way we behave, not how we live!) we definitely have a stronger chance of our marriage surviving. If I am having a problem with Leo I do not tell my closest friend who then goes to the highest bidding magazine and spill all the dirt. When I leave the house without my wedding ring I do not have paparazzi following me saying, "Ooohh girl the ring is off, what did he do this time." I would probably just turn around and say holy crap I hope I didn't leave it close enough to the toilet or in arms reach of a 2-year old but hey, I'm sure that was what Jessica was thinking!

I guess I just feel like the world invades their privacy and I am not going to say that I don't love a good headline like Lindsay's cover of US Weekly that has a sad shot of her looking all sad and lonely saying "I am So Alone." You just want to buy them and read all about it but you always do and they never have the actual person commenting for the article. UNless it is Heidi and Spencer but they are just creepy altogether. So as much as I do love reading about them I do know that they are not like us and that's probably a good thing because I don't want to read in a magazine that I have gained 5 pounds or that leo is stepping out on me. All's fair in entertainment and life.

I will leave you with one quote from Miley Cyrus that is still driving me crazy a week after reading it. She said something to the effect of "Anyone can take a Prada outfit and make it look good but I like to go to Forever 21 and find something and make it look good." Yeah, Miley, normal people do take stuff you find at Forever 21 and make it look good. Just because you are a celebrity shopping in a non-boutique store doesn't mean that you are wearing shambly clothes. People take clothes from the DAV all the time and make them look good. Don't act like you are somebody. Sorry. I just needed to get that off my chest! :)

Rainy Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to everyone! We went to church this morning and trudged through the rain. Still hoping there would be an Easter egg hunt for my little man to push the other kids down and steal their eggs. I mean be a good Catholic boy and share with all of the other little boys and girls! :) Anyways...to my dismay the Easter Egg hunt was cancelled because of the stupid rain (it is still raining 4 hours later...boo). So instead we trudged once again through the rain and mud to my parents house for Easter dinner. Sandwiches and the fixins. Now I am listening to my crazy family members play a crazy card game while the little monkey is sleeping. This day has been so dreary I am ready to go to sleep. I don't know if that is going to happen but a girl can dream right?!?

Spin Cycle

I am linking over to Sprites Keeper for the spin cycle and this is my first one...This week you can write about anything and I figured that that was easy enough!
I went over to my friends house this weekend and we were discussing God knows what and he said he couldn't remember something about me becuase I went through 5 stages in about a year and a half. I have to give it to him, he was right! I guess as a young woman trying to decide what you want to do with your life, who you want to be and who you want to be with you have to make a lot of decisions. And as you make those decisions your outlook on life usually changes. Also, the one good thing about being a girl is the ability to change your appearance once you tire of the person you were before. I went through hair color changes, from brunette to red to black to blonde on top black on the bottom. I went from really long to really short to longish.
And I guess the part about changing my hair is random but my hair was always the one thing I could change. Because you have so many things you are trying to decide it is almost like you are a toddler trying to decide what you want to wear for the day. But it's like do I want to wear the cowboy boots with the ballerina tutu or do I want to dress up in my Halloween costume that is 2 sizes to small. You are just trying to decide who you want to become.
And so yes, I did have some moments where I didn't like who I was or who I was becoming I knew I could always change into who I wanted to become. I may not be able to change the past but I can always, always change FOR my future.
I am going to leave you with a few parting photos of my changing looks in the last few years...from being prego to just today getting my hair chopped off for my summer look! (Don't look to closely at the blotchy face and allergy eyes!)

Why does this S*&$ always happen to me?

I am so not a computer-literate person. It took me like a year to get a blog after my friend mentioned it to me and even now I just have the easy set-up page because I can't figure out the cool stuff. Anyways...I babysat my neice on Sunday and then took the monster to an Easter egg hunt today and got some really cute pictures. Well I accidentally deleted them all. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. THEM. I am so annoyed. I thought I was deleting something else and boop. There they went. And I even went to the recycle bin because I figured they would be there but no. So instead of seeing really cute pictures of my little man hunting eggs you can imagine a picture of me flipping of the computer. Happy fricking Monday!

Oh yeah, and Brooke over at Yada Yada Yada awarded me the friendship award.

"The Friendship Award is given to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to those bloggers who must choose at least 5 more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”
I am not choosing a specific 5 but I think almost all of the blogs I read are like this so everyone deserves it!

Boys just wanna have fun

This weekend we were supposed to go to a bbq at our friends house. It has been planned and the hubby does not do planned things. So it was agreed *by him* that I would be the one that went and he would stay at home with the monkey. That's fine. Then it was said that it would be kid-friendly so I decided to take him. And when I found out it was only going to be a few people going I tried to talk him into going because he likes the couple hosting the event. Nope, he did not want to go. I was like whatever and moved on with my life.
The part that really frustrated me though was when one of his co-workers invited him over to have an Edward 40-hands party. And guess what, he went. I don't care if he goes out with his friends. I go out with mine. What annoys me is that we had plans that he didn't want to do so he chose to do something else. I would much rather have him sit at home playing video games or watching tv. I want to go to an Edward 40-hands party but we had made other plans.
***By the way...for those of you that don't know, and Edward 40-hands party is where you duct tape a forty to each hand and you have to drink them before you can get them off of your hand. Crazy kids and their crazy parties!!!!***

Oh My God I'm One of Them!

I have turned into one of those parents that I hate. Little man woke up with a cough that made him sound like a seal. And he started crying and that made him not be able to breathe which made him cry more. So I called in to work and told them I could open but would have to leave so mi amor could go to work because they would be short later in the day. The hubster took him to the doctor and...nothing. The doctor said it was probably viral combined with allergies. No fever, not even a sinus infection. Seriously, I believed that lived within the little monster on a daily basis as many boogers as that kid sports!

So I'm that person. The one that packs her kid up and rushes to the doctor at the drop of a hat. I guess the reason I am more concerned is because he has been a sick kid. I was a sick kid too and I know how it feels to be sick. It's not cool! So I got a free pass from work and so while he has slept a lot of the day I have caught up on some DVR'd shows and cleaned the kitchen. Woo hoo!

On another note, little man has become amazing to watch because he is learning new things on a daily basis. Not only is he talking like a maniac but he is playing by himself with his toys and doing it the right way. I know I know there is no right way but honestly, why play with blocks if you can't stack them? Well he can now! And it keeps him occupied for hours! I love it! He is becoming a little boy right in front of my eyes!
